Yusup Has Hajip, a great philosopher and poet, was born at Barasagun in 1019, later moved to Kashgar and there he began his writing. In age 50 he spent 18 months wrote his famous book "Kutadghu Bilig" (The Wisdom of Happiness and Pleasure), a book of 85 chapters. "The Wisdom of Happiness and Pleasure" in ancient Uighur language and then dedicated to Ali Aishan, the ruler of Karakhanid Dynasty.  He died in 1085 at age 67.

Yusup Has Hajip 1018-1019 yilleri Kuz Ordu (Balasaghun) da dunyagha kelgen. U 50 yexida "Qutadghu Bilig" digen esirini yezixqa baxlap, Qexqerde devamlaxturup, 18 ayda yezip bolghan. Eser 85 bab, 6645 beyit (13290 misra) tin tuzulgen. Yusup Has Hajip buni xu caghdiki Tavghac Bughrahan Ebu Eli Hesenge doletni qandaq baxqurux heqqide yezip bergen qollanmasi bolup, u caghlarda puqralar padixalargha deris berer ikenduq. Eser kop mezmunluq telim-terbiye nesihetname ve siyasetnamedin ibaret. Xu esiri ucun, han Yusupke Has Hajib digen namni berip, ordida 20 yil hizmet qilghan ve 1085 yili 67 yexida alemdin otken.

Yusuf Has Hajip Tomb is located on Sports Road opposite to Kashgar Mountaineering Association.
After he died, he was buried in Badige, outside the city of Kashgar. His tomb was moved to its present site when it was threatened by the flooding of the Toman River.
