Uighur American Association Announcement

To counter the Chinese governments “celebrations” for the 50th Anniversary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the Uyghur American Association will hold a demonstration at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. on Friday, September 30, 2005. The demonstration will take place in front of the Embassy at 2300 Connecticut Ave. NW from 3pm to 7pm. The Chinese government is trying to highlight the economic and social development of the region through these “celebrations” and we want to counter that there is little for Uyghurs to celebrate. Instead we want to draw attention to the human rights abuses and persecution that Uyghurs face under Chinese rule. Come support our counter-demonstration!
