Never Ending Song (Tugimes Nahxa)
             Author: Teyipjan Eliyev
Translated by: Unche Ay & Sokrat Saydahmat

Her kun ahximi nahxa eytimen,
Axu kochamdin egilip ketelmey.
Bir pellini kozlep mangimen,
Awari men, tehi yetelmey.

Bugun ahxammu chiqqantim yene,
Xoh nahxam bilen derize qeqip.
Qayaqtin dur ixik echilip,
Kayip ketti bir boway chiqip.

"Kunde ahximi nahxa eytisen,
Sarangmu sen, ongxalmaydighan?!
Yaki ademge uyqa bermeysen.
Qandaq nahxa bu, tugimeydighan?"

"Kayima boway, Sen mu bir chaghda,
Yax edingghu uhlimaydighan.
Senmu eytip tugitalmigen,
Xundaq nahxa bu, tugimeydighan."

Every night I sing a song,
Circling the same street.
I walk with one goal,
I am trying hard, but I am not able to succeed.

I went out again tonight,
Knocking the window with my song.
Someone's door opened,
An old-man came out upset at me.

"You sing every night,
Are you crazy, someone that can't get well?
And you don't let others sleep.
What kind of song is this, that never ends?"

"Don't be upset old-man, you also were,
Young and sleepless.
You also couldn't finish the song,
This is the same song, that never ends."
